The Atlanta Gladiators announced Wednesday that forward Garry Nunn will be back with the organization after agreeing to terms for the 2015-2016 season.

“I’m really excited to come back to where I truly believe is one of the best places to play in the whole league here in Atlanta,” said Nunn. “In addition, the team Coach Brandt has assembled is without a doubt going to make an impact this season and I want to be a part of it.”

Nunn, 25, Started the 2014-15 season with the Gladiators scoring 44 points in 55 games played.  In March, Nunn was traded to the Ontario Reign for the final 15 games of the regular season where he would compile 21 points, the most of any Reign player in that time span.  The 5-foot-9, 175-pound forward was the leading scorer for the Reign in the playoffs as well amassing 21 points in 19 games played in route to an appearance in the ECHL’s Western Conference Finals.  In 287 career ECHL games, the Victoria, BC native has registered 194 points with Alaska, Atlanta (formally Gwinnett) and Ontario.  Nunn was a member of the Alaska’s 2010-11 Kelley Cup Championship team and has produced 39 points in 47 career professional playoff games.

“Garry is a huge addition to our team in that he brings a lot of leadership, playoff experience and a great track record of winning,” added Brandt.  “Nunn not only adds a ton of skill and offensive punch to our group of forwards, but also brings an unrivaled work ethic night in and night out who will once again be an integral part of our lineup.”

In addition to his time in the ECHL, Nunn has a year of European professional hockey under his belt as the forward spent the 2013-14 season in Italy’s Serie A, the top professional hockey league in Italy. In 42 matches for the Hockey Club Valpellice, Nunn managed 18 goals and 32 assists for 50 points.  Prior to his professional career, Nunn skated three full seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Vancouver Giants and Edmonton Oil Kings.  While appearing in 180 WHL games, Nunn collected 52 goals and 80 assists.

“I feel that this team is not only going to get into the playoffs but has a legit shot at making a deep run at a championship,” added Nunn.  “I look forward to being a leader on this team and using the experience I have gained in the past to help the Gladiators win the Kelley Cup.”
